The Village NZWhere most dads start
Becoming Dad prepares expecting fathers for birth, the first weeks, and the return to work. Its content was reviewed by registered midwife Liora Noy, and it's run live by a dad who's been through it, in a small group of dads from different workplaces who are all due around the same time.

A safe space
“Was really enjoyable and informative! Felt like I could discuss anything, was a good safe space.”
Real worries, real answers
“We could give specific examples of things we are worried about and go through possible ways to navigate Dad-hood and deal with the extra stresses and complexity that go with it. Great structure to the session.”
The facilitator
“Aidan was very approachable and made me feel at ease. Gave plenty of opportunities to share opinions. Asked very thought-provoking questions. Very helpful!!”
Most dads are back at work long before things settle at home. They're tired, stretched and unlikely to say so to their manager, HR or your EAP. That's when you lose them: to burnout, to disengagement, or to a job that seems to fit family life better.

The courses
Enrol a dad when he reaches a stage, and he joins the next cohort. Every session is 90 minutes, live and online. In-person delivery is available for larger employers.
01 · Before baby
Antenatal for dads, reviewed by registered midwife Liora Noy.
02 · 3–6 months in New
For the stretch when sleep is gone, work is back, and the pressure peaks.
03 · Back at work New
For any dad trying to do his job well and still be there for the moments that matter.
How cohorts work
Every cohort mixes dads from several companies who are at the same stage. They speak more openly than they would with colleagues, and many stay in touch long after the course. You don't need a room full of expecting dads. One is enough.
All three courses run regularly.
Enrol a dad any time and he joins the next class for his stage. No waiting for a full room at your workplace.
From $50 per dad, or an annual workplace plan. Private cohorts, online or in person, are available for larger teams.

Why it works
“On my first day back at work, my wife and daughter were both crying. I kissed them goodbye, walked out the front door, and stood there for five minutes, not sure whether going back in would make things better or worse.”
Aidan Kyrke-Smith, founder
I'm Aidan. When I became a father I had postnatal depression and didn't know men could get it. Later, as a stay-at-home dad, I felt how isolating it is to do this without support. That's why dads open up in my sessions, and why they take in what's taught there.
